Man's Choice

Today is Day 29 of 40 days for life. I signed up to pray every day from 7:00-8:00 a.m. In front of the Planned Parenthood at 5631 South 48th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Last Monday I was praying about 7:15 a.m. on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood. It was twilight when I heard a man's voice.  "Excuse me ma'am,"  I turned around and saw a man on his bicycle with all of his race gear on.  It looked like he may have been training for a triathlon.  "Thank You for being here."  "I don't come out here (to pray) but thank you for being here."  I could see the emotion in his eyes. Before I could say anything he pedaled off.  I'm guessing abortion has impacted him on a personal level at some point in his life.

The next day was Tuesday, which is abortion day at the Lincoln Planned Parenthood.  A young hispanic man, I will refer to as Juan, parked in the Planned Parenthood parking lot.  He walked up to a priest and a nun from a local Catholic church. I learned later from the priest that Juan had contacted him earlier.   He was waiting for his girlfriend to drive in.  She was scheduled to have an abortion and Juan was trying to stop her.

We talked with Juan and prayed.  He spotted his girlfriend's car pulling into the parking lot of Planned Parenthood.  The nun and I tried to get his girlfriend's attention by calling out her name from across the parking lot.  Our efforts were thwarted by a large Planned Parenthood security guard.  The security guard shielded Juan's girlfriend by escorting her in to have her & Juan's baby killed.

Juan became angry and began shouting at the other security guard sitting in a pickup truck.  "You call that a job?"  shouted Juan.  "Why don't you get a real job?"  Juan stood on the sidewalk sobbing, powerless to protect his baby and his girlfriend from harm.  I was standing behind Juan and was overcome with anger and emotion.  I got on my knees to pray.  I heard the Holy Spirit say, "lay prostrate and pray." I know in the bible there are examples of people praying prostrate(face to the ground) but I couldn't think of the purpose right then.  I just humbled myself, got on my belly with my face to the cement.  The nun was behind me on her knees. After a few minutes I could hear the nun sobbing. I began sobbing. I can only imagine what people thought. When I got up from the prostrate position. The priest was on his knees praying at the end of the sidewalk, Followed by the nun on her knees, Then me on my face praying prostrate. Juan was standing in front of me facing the Planned Parenthood building ,weeping. We all eventually left And I assume Juan's girlfriend Did not come out without having her baby aborted by Dr. CJ LaBenz.

I was angry after I got home. Especially at the security guards who escorted Juan's girlfriend into Planned Parenthood. I did look up verses on praying prostrate. This is what I found; "I lay prostrate before the Lord those forty days and forty nights because the Lord had said he would destroy you"(Deuteronomy 9:25 NIV84). So I was praying prostrate for the Lord to not destroy the security guards, the Planned Parenthood workers, Dr. LaBenz and Juan's girlfriend. I of all people could've been destroyed by God for my stubbornness, wickedness, and sin Years ago when I walked into Planned Parenthood and had my baby killed. Thankfully my Savior Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross For my sins and others.

Abortion has long been touted as a "women's" choice.  Many times a woman is not given a choice when she is pressured by someone in her life to have an abortion. Maybe the man on the bike was one of those and now regrets his part in abortion.  Or other times, such as in Juan's case, the woman is determined she has to have an abortion despite a man's plea. With abortion, men and women both lose in the end.
